Giving up, Playing Games, Manipulation and Blindness or Openness and Praise

2 Corinthians

1-2 Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we’re not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don’t maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don’t twist God’s Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.

3-4 If our Message is obscure to anyone, it’s not because we’re holding back in any way. No, it’s because these other people are looking or going the wrong way and refuse to give it serious attention. All they have eyes for is the fashionable god of darkness. They think he can give them what they want, and that they won’t have to bother believing a Truth they can’t see. They’re stone-blind to the dayspring brightness of the Message that shines with Christ, who gives us the best picture of God we’ll ever get.

While reading this this morning it came to mind how some people when life gets difficult throw up there hands and give up, giving up meeting with other Christians, give up going to church, give up talking with God at all. And yet the bible speaks so often of Gods grace and love for those struggling. So why do we give up on a God who actually cares?

Is it because we have played games and twisted Gods word to suite ourself, and then when things go wrong we have no truth to base our hope on.

Or is it because we have had our eyes blinded to the truth by all the gods of this day and age, I think there are as many as in Roman and Greek times. From sexual freedom, wealth, consumerism, individualism, to Occult, power, indifference, etc. There are many things which blind us from seeing the wonder of God, either in the world around, in His word, or through the Light of Christ shining in others.

SO I ask you today to think about what you are shutting your eyes to and why.

Is it because you fear letting Jesus into your life? because of the way you currently live and you know that there would need to be change?

Is it because you have twisted your view of the world around to suite yourself?

Is it because others have blinded you to the truth and you can no longer see it?

Do you think that the way you live can give you all you need and fulfill your future?

I did for years and then Jesus showed me the glory, love and wonder of God the father, my life chanced, yes, but for the better. Ask those who know me. Did God make me do things I didn’t want to do?

No, but he changed my heart so I wanted to do things in a different way.

Do I regret giving my Life to Christ, No!

Even though I still have hardship and things do not always go right, even though I still offend people I can ask and receive forgiveness and with the Spirit try to be a better person day by day, knowing Gods love for me.

So why not decide to really explore who Jesus is and thereby find God, and then follow a new path in your life, you have nothing to lose but so much to gain.
