I was reading this psalm, and it made me think about where I get my support and strength from, and then where others might get theirs from.
Psalm 121 [The Message (MSG)]
A Pilgrim Song
121 1-2 I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
3-4 He won’t let you stumble,
your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
Not on your life! Israel’s
Guardian will never doze or sleep.
5-6 God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
sheltering you from moonstroke.
7-8 God guards you from every evil,
he guards your very life.
He guards you when you leave and when you return,
he guards you now, he guards you always.
So where does my support come from?
Well I am quite sure that mostly it is from Jesus, but I must admit that sometimes I look at other things, like my hobby, wife etc. I do not say that with total confidence but as a likely fact, I do not always turn to Jesus like I should.
When I do turn to Jesus it is right that He does not let me stumble, or fall. He protects me and helps me. But when I do not turn to Him then things do not turn out as well. Its not that God stops things being hard but that He helps me deal with it.
So I ask again where does your support come from?
Is it money, tech, shopping, sex, TV or something else?
Jesus is a much better support than all of those He never lets you down and there is no cost.
