From UCB Word for today
‘I will pour out water to quench your thirst…’ Isaiah 44:3
When life goes well, we become self-sufficient and forget God. Spiritually speaking, we run on empty until a spark ignites an outburst. If your car’s tank is empty, whose fault is it? The petrol station hasn’t moved! You chose to drive by without stopping! When you’re running on empty, you end up hurting those closest to you, then dealing with the guilt that comes after a flare-up. God said, ‘I will pour out water to quench your thirst.’ So today pick up your Bible and refuel your soul!
A short verse with a deep meaning, and very true. Many people only think needy people turn to God in in some ways they are right it is only when we are in need that we turn to somewhere else for help. But like in this verse and what Word for today has to say about it, we need to remember to fill up on Gods presence, His Spirit, all the time. Once we have come to realise that God exists and that He loves us and wants to help us then we need to keep filling up on His Spirit.
When we don’t we grind to a halt and find everything so much harder than it was before.
So continue to be filled, continue to spend time in Gods presence as often as you would eat and drink.
